The Forecaster

The Story of Martin Armstrong

The international movie website is a central communication hub for all online communication around the film. A huge number of special events within the campaign gained high interested in the movie and all additional materials around the topic of the financial dept crisis. All events throughout the several distribution phases have been were accompanied by an extensive social media campaign. For this campaign and a cross-media advertisement various bonus trailers, bonus vidoes and exclusive scenes from the film have been produced and release in several online channels.

On May 7, 2015, the film “was released in cinemas in Germany, and could be be seen in several festivals in European countries and the U.S.A.. The German theatrical release was accompanied by a German tour by the main protagonist with podium discussions and Q&As after the screenings.

On September 15, 2015 the film was released in eleven European countries. The protagonist Martin Armstrong made a tour across Europe with a big event in Athens. This event was streamed with synchronized translation into cinemas in several capital cities throughout Europe and streamed live for a world wide audience. This live event was recorded together with several interview and published as additional video on demands.

Together with the co-production partner TV Plus, a cross-media platform was created as an additional second screen offer: THE FORECASTER INTERACTIVE. The online platform allows for a deeper exploration of the countless thematic connections that the film reveals, and links the narrative plot points with current events in business, politics and society. Central events and turning points in Martin Armstrong’s life were embedded in their historical context along an interactive time line. The temporal limitations of the medium of film were thus removed and the protagonist’s story extended into the present.

Live broadcast, streaming & ticket sales, recording & Video on Demand

The final event of Martin Armstrong´s Europe Tour – the Greece Premiere in Athens 2015 – took place in Athens. The premiere was followed by a live podium discussion. This event was broadcasted live into 20 cities in 8 European countries including live translations into 5 languages. Cinemas have shown the film and streamed the discussion live after the screenings. People from all over the world could by a streaming ticket online through the website and watch the film and stream the live discusion at home.

This cross-media platform enables users to investigate in more detail the innumerable thematic links presented in the film, thereby combining the narrative plot points with current events in the economy, politics and society. Key events and turning points in Martin Armstrong’s life are thereby embedded in their historic context along an interactive time line. The temporal limitations of the medium “film” are thus eliminated and the story of the protagonist is extended to here and now in terms of content.

Based on a corporate design for the film various advertisment materials have been produced to ensure a high recognition value worldwide. The title “The Forecaster” was adapted into several languages (e.g. L´Óracle (French), El Visionario (Spanish). The background visual of the Central Park in New York was changed accordingly to the place of the event (e.g. Paris, Rom, Athens). Uniform fonts and colours were used to ensure a uniform appearance, while at the same time visually adapting the advertising to the individual location.

Social Media Channels player a central roll in the advertisment of the film. Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Vimeo ahve been used to advertise the film focused on several local and special interest target groups. Beside payed advertisments with several bonus video clips, teasers and trailers the festivals, theatrical tours of the main protagonists and all major events have been intensely advertised and a huge fan community was build throughout all distribution phases.
